Prof. Eunjung Jin(CEO) 's team developed an injectable conductive hydrogel(SIM gel) for diagnosis and treatment based on cholesterol control in collaboration with a reasearch team at Korea National Universit of Transportation and published their findings in the internatioanl journal Bioactive Materials(IF 20.3).

The research centers on the implementation of smart hydrogel platform that detects coenzyme A(CoASH), a biomarker that is abnormally elevated in osteoarthristic tissues, to induce a visible 'gel-sol transition' and targeted release of simvastatin, a drug with  anti-inflammatory and cholesterol lowering effects.

This technology is a "theragnostic" approach that enables simple diagnosis and effective treatment at the same time, and is expected to proivde a new paradigm for the development of point-of-care diagnostics and osteoarthritis therapeutics in the future.
